We get it. Selling secondhand can be a hassle. Photographing everything, creating listings, answering messages, negotiating prices and arranging pickups. Sometimes it’s easier to leave things sitting in the cupboard.
That’s where we come in.
With Etc. Store’s Rent a Rack, you can sell your quality pre-loved items in our curated Porirua store, without having to do all the work yourself.
We take care of the presentation, customers and sales. You keep every dollar of your in-store sales.
$100 for 4 weeks. No commission.
How it works
One simple price. No surprises.

- 4 weeks in our physical store at Kai Tahi, Porirua
- 0% commission on in-store sales
- You set your prices, with guidance from us if you’d like it
- We handle the selling, including displays, customer enquiries and transactions
- Midpoint review to see how things are going and whether any adjustments might help
You don’t need to be there, manage your rack or deal with buyers. Just leave your lovely things with us and we’ll take care of the rest.
1. Book your space
Get in touch to check availability and tell us a little about what you’d like to sell. We carefully select what comes into the store to make sure everything meets our quality standards and fits with the Etc. Store collection.
2. Get your items ready
Choose up to 20 items, make sure they’re clean and in great condition, and decide what you’d like to sell them for. You’re in control of your prices. We’re happy to offer guidance based on our experience, but the final decision is yours.
3. Leave the selling to us
Drop your approved items off and we’ll take it from there. We’ll display them alongside our own curated collection, help customers, process sales and keep track of what’s sold.
Halfway through your booking, we’ll check in to review how things are going.
4. Get paid
At the end of your four-week booking, we’ll reconcile your sales and arrange payment. Any unsold items can be collected, or we can discuss other options if you’d prefer.
No commission on in-store sales means what your items sell for is what you receive.
Want to reach more buyers?
Add online exposure
Want your pieces to be available beyond our physical store? We can also list up to 10 of your items on the Etc. Store website, giving them the opportunity to find a new home with shoppers across New Zealand.
For items sold online, we charge a 20% commission after applicable transaction fees.
Online listings are optional, so you can choose what works best for you.
What can you sell?
We’re all about quality over quantity.
We welcome beautiful, well-cared-for pieces that deserve another life, including:

- Other quality finds that fit our collection
Everything is subject to approval before being accepted.
We want shopping secondhand to feel just as lovely as shopping new, so condition, presentation and quality matter to us.

A few things woth knowing
Do I need to price everything myself?
You get to choose your prices, but we’re happy to offer suggestions. We want your items to sell, so we’ll give you our view on what might work.
What happens if something doesn’t sell?
There’s no guarantee that every item will sell. We’ll review things with you halfway through your booking, and you can decide whether to adjust your prices. Unsold items remain yours.
Can I add more items when something sells?
Get in touch and we’ll see what we can accommodate. Any additional items will need to be approved first.
Do I need to come into the store during my booking?
Not at all! That’s the beauty of it. We take care of the day-to-day selling for you.
Can I sell furniture?
Furniture isn’t included in our Rent a Rack packages, but we may be able to help through our other consignment arrangements. Get in touch to discuss.
